The price of the dollar shows an upward trend. What’s the reason for this?

Foreign currency continues to show an upward trend in comparison with what was registered over the last few weeks. The aforementioned increase is in response to the dollar, which is in lower supply and less abundant in the market, and is in part a response to the peak tourism season that has already ended; coupled with the decelerating pace of export-led growth.

PROCOMER: exports continue growing but at a slower pace than the last three years

Costa Rica has achieved consistent growth in exports of 6% compared to the same period in 2023, albeit at a slower pace than what was registered in the last three years.

How vegetables are packed, a possible adjustment in agrochemicals, and a more extensive follow-up of the harvests in order to guarantee that they don’t have an impact on forests, are all part of what appears to be the conditions to maintain commercial ties open with the European Union.

Productive sectors affected by the exchange rate are dissatisfied with the response from the CBCR

Representatives from the private sector have expressed their dissatisfaction with the responses issued by the Central Bank of Costa Rica (CBCR), since they claimed that there has been no change in the search for resolving the impacts that stem from an exchange-rate appreciation.
