Antonio Ávila

Foreign Trade Partner

Biography

Antonio holds degrees in Law and International Business from the Universidad de Guadalajara and an MBA from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Occidente (ITESO). He also undertook specialized courses on Supply Chain at Rutgers University in New Jersey and in Logistics at Loyola University in Chicago and completed a study program on Contracts at Yale University.

He specializes in compliance, a topic on which he is certified at a national level by the National Council for Standardization and Certification of Labor Competencies (CONOCER), and internationally by the Professional Evaluation and Certification Board of Canada.

Antonio has over 20 years of experience advising hundreds of companies on compliance issues in various industries —especially those in the IMMEX sector ("Manufacturing, Maquiladora, and Export Services Industry“, a government program that allows companies to temporarily import goods for manufacturing and export without paying taxes).

He currently is Foreign Trade Partner at JA Del Río. He is also an international speaker on customs and international trade issues and has been recognized as leading consultant on customs topics by the specialized magazines Estrategia Aduanera and Reino Aduanero.

Antonio chairs the Foreign Trade Committee at the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM), representing the organization before the Ministry of the Economy for discussions related to the regulatory framework “IMMEX 4.0”, as well as for the review of the United States-Mexico-Canada (USMCA) trade agreement.

He also advises several business chambers and local governments on topics related to foreign trade and international trade tariffs.
