On 19 December 2024, the Ministry of Economy published in the Federal Official Gazette a decree for a temporary increase in tariffs. The proposal aims to establish a 35% tariff on finished goods (138 HTS Codes) and a 15% tariff on textile product imports (17 HTS Codes), excluding those originating from countries with active free trade agreements.
The decree also stipulates that finished goods classified under chapters 61, 62, and 63, as well as subheadings 9404.40 and 9404.90, cannot be temporarily imported under the IMMEX Decree. This restriction extends to subheadings 6117.90, 6217.90, 6302.91, 6302.93, and 6302.99, which cover fabric cuts intended for manufacturing purposes.
The amendments became effective as of 20 December 2024 and the temporary tariffs, will be in effect until 23 April 2026.
