Mexico is preparing to host one of the most important global events, and the 2026 Economic Package includes a special tax regime for those involved in the organization or execution of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
This scheme, known as the “tax bubble”, would allow an exemption from various tax obligations for individuals and legal entities that participate directly and exclusively in activities related to the event, such as hospitality, sponsorship, media, logistics or specialized services.
However, access to this benefit will depend on meeting specific criteria set by the Tax Administration Service (SAT) and on not being in situations of tax risk, such as having final tax assessments, a cancelled Digital Seal Certificate (CSD), or being listed under Article 69-B of the Federal Tax Code (CFF).
Our Tax team is currently analyzing the scope and potential criteria that the SAT may adopt. If your company is involved—or could be involved—in activities related to the 2026 World Cup, now is the right time to review your tax situation and prepare to take advantage of the proposed incentives.
