The Council of Representatives of the National Minimum Wage Commission (CONASAMI) has approved the increase to both general and professional minimum wages, which will take effect on January 1, 2026. This update forms part of the annual adjustments aimed at preserving workers’ purchasing power and strengthening labor stability in the country.
Key approved modifications:
Impact on Employer Obligations
This increase affects not only employees’ earnings but also several employer compliance obligations. In particular, the higher minimum wages directly impact the calculation of social security contributions, as well as other items linked to the integrated daily wage (salario base de cotización) for purposes of IMSS and INFONAVIT.
As a result, companies must update their payroll systems and review the correct salary integration to ensure proper compliance with social security requirements.
Pending Publication in the Official Gazette (DOF)
The approved provisions are still pending publication in the Diario Oficial de la Federación (DOF). Their enforceability will begin once the publication becomes official, which is expected in the coming days.
