On June 4, the Ministry of Economy (SE), the Tax Administration Service (SAT), and the National Customs Agency of Mexico (ANAM) announced the elimination of the review and approval requirement for various notices submitted through Mexico’s Foreign Trade Portal (VUCEM).
Under this measure, these notices will become self-managed filings and will no longer require an express resolution from the authorities. This change is expected to streamline filing procedures, reduce processing times, and lessen administrative burdens for companies engaged in foreign trade operations.
However, this simplification does not exempt companies from complying with applicable foreign trade regulations. The authorities will continue to exercise their review, verification, and audit powers, making it essential for companies to maintain adequate documentation supporting regulatory compliance.
Exceptions
For the time being, this measure will not apply to the following procedures:
The elimination of the review and approval requirement represents an important step toward the simplification and digitalization of foreign trade procedures in Mexico. Nevertheless, companies should continue strengthening their internal controls and foreign trade records to demonstrate compliance in the event of an audit or review by the authorities.
